How To: Choose Which Team to Root For in the World Series

We’ve reached that time of year when only two teams remain playing in Major League Baseball, duking it out for the crown of best in the world. This year, the 8-or-so million people who live in Boston or Denver will be glued to their televisions to root on their hometown heroes.

But what about those of us unfortunate souls in the 28 other cities whose teams are since retired? How do we know which team we should ally with for these final games before returning to the hot stove for the winter to dream about the promise of the coming spring? We must know that it’s time to strap on the purple and black and root for the upstart, young Rox.  But how do we know this is true? How do we know when it seemed like only yesterday when we cheered those unkempt boys from Beantown to overcome the Bambino’s curse?
