Throughout the year, Maura and I were talking about getting season tickets to the Braves for 2008. Last year they introduced season tickets in the Upper Pavilion for the first time, and at a very reasonable price. So, we put down a deposit in October, and as of Thursday we’re official season ticket holding people. It’s very exciting for me, as I’ve lived and died (though not too much dying, thanks to Bobby Cox and John Schuerholz) with the Braves for almost 20 years now. (Oh, god I’m old!)
As we’ve been talking about the idea, I’ve been a little surprised at how excited Maura seemed about the idea. I mean, we’ve spent a lot of time watching Braves games together. But she’s only been an Atlantan since July, and I have suspicions that her loyalties are not completely straight yet.
So, when the deal was all said and done, seats selected, and payments authorized, the truth behind her real motivations finally came out. Of course, if your girlfriend wants to get season tickets with you, I suppose you just count yourself fortunate and don’t worry about the rest of it.
