Last week, I became the proud owner of a new MacBook (black, like my soul.) After years of being abused by Windows and a year-and-a-half mostly happy, but always slightly unsatisfying experiment in the world of Ubuntu (where I learned that Linux for the desktop is and always will be almost ready for prime time [though the stuff they’re doing with KDE 4 is very interesting]), I finally took the leap and joined the cult.
Mostly, just to annoy Kelvin.
So far, all is happy in the world of Mac. The move has been smooth, and I’m very excited about some of the wonderful features in OS X. For example, mousing over icons on the dock make them get bigger. And clicking on them makes them bounce. So cool! I’m more productive already.
But seriously, all is good. The only annoying part was having to reformat my iPods to Mac format. I get to use all the cool Mac only software the cool people are always talking about. I can sync Sandy to iCal to my BlackBerry. And, best of all, the big white apple on the front lets everybody know that I’m not just a hip young person, but a hip young person with too much disposable income.
