New Year

It’s always a little sad for me to return home from Montana. Of all the places I’ve lived, it’s the place I lived the shortest, but it’s still a special place to me. I spent most of my time skiing (including my first black diamond runs on a real mountain), soaking in hot water, at happy hour, and playing with the newest member or our family, Beau, the golden retriever. It was a very nice holiday.

For the new year, I have a few very modest goals:

  • Use the slow cooker more this year. I have visions of lots of one-pot-set-and-forget, hearty, healthy meals, with lots of containers of leftovers for lunch. Caitlin got me Not Your Mother’s Slow Cooker Cookbook for Christmas, so I’m ready to roll on this one.
  • Blog more about food. We’ve cooked lots of interesting meals in the last year, and I have a hard drive full of pictures of meals that I intended to foodblog. It’s quite a bit of work, though, but I think I can manage at least a couple of foodblog posts a month.
  • Don’t club any baby seals over the head. Hey, you’ve gotta throw in at least one that you know you can succeed at.
