Hibiscus Margaritas

One of my more interesting Christmas presents was a random assortment of herbs and spices, including a bag of dried hibiscus flowers. I knew that you can make tea out of hibiscus, but I decided to turn to the internets for other suggestions.

Apparently, there aren’t a whole of other things you can make with hibiscus, but the best option was margaritas. I found a recipe at 101cookbooks, and we decided to have hibiscus margaritas along with our red mole enchiladas on Saturday night.

We opted to go with frozen margaritas (mostly because I’m in a blending state of mind these days thanks to my fancy new blender.) They were much sweeter than I was expecting, though not cloyingly, and the hibiscus has just enough of a tang to make it okay. They were also very, very red.
