The Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Jake Myers will be joining its staff next month. Myers will serve as the new Community Philanthropy Officer, working closely with our grant and scholarship programs as well as our Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). Myers will begin his position at the Community Foundation Monday, April 3, 2023.
Most recently Myers served as a planning and zoning consultant with Beckett & Raeder, Inc. in their Petoskey office, working with numerous municipalities within Emmet County. In that role, Myers served as the liaison between applicants and the various boards and commissions, forging key relationships and connecting community partners.
“We are pleased to welcome Jake to our team,” said David (DJ) Jones, executive director of the Community Foundation. “Jake’s community relationship skills really stood out for this role where he will be connecting with nonprofit, educational and municipal partners through our grantmaking and scholarship programs.”
Myers grew up in Traverse City and, after graduating from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in history, returned to northern Michigan. In his free time, Myers plays drums and stays connected with the northern Michigan music scene (often at Beards’ open mic night). He also enjoys outdoor activities like kayaking, Nordic skiing and hiking.
“I'm excited to join the Community Foundation because of the organization's commitment to improving the quality of life for the residents of Emmet County,” Myers shared. “The foundation's focus on education, the arts, the environment, and community development are important regional pillars of what makes our area special.”
