Other Local Funders

Local Funders

There are several other grantmaking organizations in the area who aim to improve our community.  Below you will find a short introduction to those clubs and foundations, as well as more information so that you may contact them directly.

Baiardi Family Foundation: 

The mission remains to support and effect positive change within several main categories of giving, specifically: Health Care, Education, The Arts, Environmental Stewardship, Land Use and Conservation, Catholic and Judeo-Christian Traditions and Values, and Community Resource. Bay Harbor Foundation: 

The mission of the Bay Harbor Foundation is to provide a process for receiving donations and distributing grants in Northern Lower Michigan that provide programs in the arts, education, a scholar program, the environmental and health & human services. They require a letter of intent due June 1; those invited to apply will hear about grant decisions in late July. See www.bayharborfoundation.org for more information.

Charlevoix County Community Foundation: 

The mission is to enhance the quality of life in Charlevoix County, now and for generations to come, by building permanent charitable endowment from a wide range of donors, addressing needs through grant making, and providing leadership on matters of community concern. CCCF has grant application deadlines on March 1 and October 1 and requires a phone call conversation prior to application. See www.c3f.org for more information.

DTE Energy Foundation: 

The Foundation supports areas like leadership development, education, higher learning, environment, diversity, and human needs. They make grants quarterly. See their website for more information.

Great Lakes Energy People Fund: 

Great Lakes Energy members help to enhance the quality of life for people in our communities through the People Fund. Bills of participating members are “rounded up” to the next dollar amount and grants are awarded to non-profit organizations and charitable activities throughout our service area. Grants are awarded by  three geographical regions (south, central and north) with two grant cycles each year. See their website for more information.

Oleson Family Foundation: 

Offers funding for sustainable, collaborative projects and programs that improve the quality of life for area residents, serving Grand Traverse, Emmet, Charlevoix, Benzie, and Manistee counties. Applications are accepted January 1 through April 1 with board decisions in June. See

Petoskey Rotary Club Charities Inc (PRCCI): 

Grants for start up or seed money in the $500 – $1,500 range with deadlines in April and October. See www.petoskeyrotary.org for more information.

Petoskey Sunrise Rotary Club: 

Funding is on a case by case basis. For more information, visit

Rotary Park Fund: 

Support for capital projects with a $5,000 minimum in Emmet, Charlevoix, and Cheboygan counties. The current deadline is March 15. See www.petoskeyrotary.org for more information.

Zonta Club of Petoskey: 

All projects to be funded must in some way be tied to the ZONTA mission, which is to improve and enhance the status of women.  Requests for projects should be focused on girls/women and show how the proposed project would be a benefit to women and/or girls.  Programs must exist and be carried out in the Emmet County area.  Application is typically available in October, with funds distributed in February.
