The Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation works to improve the quality of life for all people in Emmet County. As a place-based grantmaker, the Community Foundation is committed to making the community stronger including through its twice-per-year grant cycle. The Community Foundation is currently inviting eligible nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and municipalities to apply to the Fall 2023 grant cycle.

The application process begins with an email inquiry to [email protected]. From here, Sarah Ford and Jake Myers, our grants team, will contact prospective applicants to learn more about their proposed projects and answer questions about the foundation’s grantmaking process. Eligible organizations will then be invited to submit a grant application. Organizations who received a grant in the Spring 2023 cycle will be eligible to apply again in 2024.

The Community Foundation encourages interested organizations to reach out as early as possible. This allows ample time for prospective applicants to schedule a conversation with foundation staff. Inquiries will be accepted through Monday, September 25, 2023. Grant applications are due Monday, October 2, 2023.

Application review will take place following the grant deadline and will engage advisory committees made up of community members. Youth- and family-focused applications will be reviewed by the foundation’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), made up of 21 area teens. The YAC will prioritize proposals that address issues identified in the Youth Needs Assessment, with the highest priority on youth mental health. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in late November 2023.

More information about our grant application process can be found here.
